These are the top 10 UK areas most at risk from coastal erosion, and how much land might be lost in the coming years. Data has been obtained from an interactive map which used Environment Agency data as its basis.
1. Kessingland, Suffolk
The second most at-risk area is Kessingland, close to the town of Lowestoft. A number of farmer’s fields and some holiday parks are close to the edge and at risk of tumbling into the sea. Photo: Shutterstock
2. Hornsea, East Yorkshire
Around 16 miles from Hull, Hornsea is the residential area at third-highest risk of erosion in the coming 20 years, with projections estimating that in 50 years, landmarks like Floral Hall and Hornsea Boat launch could be underwater. Photo: Shutterstock
