Anwar Hadid: who is Dua Lipa’s model boyfriend, when did they start dating - and have they split?

According to reports, New Rules singer Dua Lipa has ended things with boyfriend Anwar Hadid after dating for two years.

Who is Anwar Hadid?

Anwar Hadid is best known as the younger brother of supermodels Gigi Hadid and Bella Hadid.

Following in the footsteps of his older sisters, Hadid is also a model, currently signed with IMG Models. He has appeared in campaigns for brands such as Vogue Man, Hugo Boss and Valentino.

The 22-year-old has also released his own music as well, with his album BLEACH released in 2019, and a number of other singles released more recently, including 4MyLove and Off@Night.

Hadid attracted some backlash earlier this year, after stating during an Instagram Q&A that he would “absolutely not” be getting the Covid-19 vaccine.

When asked by a fan “why are you anti vax?”, Hadid replied: “Either I just don’t get [virus] or I get it and god willing heal from it and get antibodies rather than do that process unnaturally, our bodies are made by the creator to do way more than we think.”

After a couple days, Hadid clarified: “I’m not ‘anti vax’ I think everyone has to be careful with each vaccine individually looking at positive and possible negative effects.

“I have taken vaccines before but as someone who has had a compromised immune system I want to continue to learn about the many ways I can protect myself and others.”

He added that he “never meant to offend anyone” and extended his gratitude to the “frontline workers and doctors and the powerful work they have done during this time”.

When did Anwar Hadid and Dua Lipa start dating?

Hadid and the British singer have been together since 2019. Rumours of their relationship were first sparked when Dua Lipa was seen attending Hadid’s birthday party. In July of 2019, the pair were seen cosying up together at the British Summer Time Hyde Park music festival in London.

In August of that same year, the couple went Instagram official, sharing pictures of the two of them enjoying a festival in Kosovo together.

They made their first appearance as a couple in September 2019, where they attended the Marc Jacobs fashion show to watch Bella and Gigi on the runway.

More recently, Hadid wished Dua Lipa a happy birthday on 22 August on his Instagram story, writing: “Happy birthday girl of my dreams, love u forever and always”.

On 1 November, Hadid also posted pictures from his Halloween celebrations with Dua Lipa on Instagram.

Have they broken up?

While neither party has commented on the status of their relationship, rumours regarding their breakup began circulating following a post from celebrity gossip Instagram account Duex Moi.

An insider reportedly told Duex Moi that the couple have “100% broken up”, and whilse they are known to “break up/get back together/break up/get back together”, they are now officially through.

When asked “how reliable” the news is about Hadid and Dua Lipa’s breakup, the Instagram account said: “On a scale of 1-10 (10 being most reliable) I’d give the reliability about an 8.

“But as I stated, they have been known to break up/get back/break up/get back.”

The Sun has previously reported on 4 December that the couple were in “crisis” and their relationship under strain from the press of their respective careers.

A source reportedly told the Sun: “The couple floated the idea about putting the brakes on their romance [in November] as travelling so much and being apart is proving tough.

“Their relationship is going through a crisis and appears to be on the rocks.”
