However, just moments later the presenter awkwardly removed it and awarded the sash to the contestant standing next to Ana, who went on to be awarded as runner-up.

The Brazilian beauty influencer shared the blunder online with her 44,000 followers.

She expressed her outrage in the caption of the post, writing: “The shame I went through yesterday.

"This moment is extremely important for those who have dedicated themselves so much towards a goal.”

Ana went on to explain that the Miss Goiás coordinator announced her name, before realising he had been given the wrong name and removed the sash.

She said: "It is a great lack of responsibility to announce a result that is not true. Putting the sash on me and then removing it.”

One follower commented: “What a lack of professionalism.”

Whilst another wrote: “Wow that’s a whole lot of disrespect.”

Ana was officially placed as third runner-up for the beauty pageant and said that she received an apology from the presenter following his mistake.

She remained courageous throughout the defeat and urged her supporters to not attack the contestant who won the Miss Goiás title.

Ana found the funny side of the situation, joking: “I understand you, Miss Colombia!”

The comment references the blunder made by comedian Steve Harvey, 65, who crowned Miss Colombia, Ariadna Gutierrez Arevalo, 28, as the winner of Miss Universe in 2015.

The comedian has hosted the Miss Universe pageant on multiple occasions and has been slammed for not just announcing the wrong names - but also for confusing countries.

In the 2020 Miss Universe competition, Harvey kept getting confused between Paraguay and Portugal, whilst announcing finalists.

Ana added that regardless of the outcome she felt proud of her performance and for representing Santa Helena of Goias.

"Luckily I prepared myself psychologically, I know very well who I am and I stayed strong,” she said.
