Doggy Parton: what is Dolly Parton’s new dog apparel line, is it available in UK, what items are included?

She is known as one of the world’s best loved singers and actresses, but Dolly Parton has decided to try her hand at designing clothing - for dogs.

Legendary music star Parton, who is an animal lover, has launched a range of essential clothing, toys and accessories for pooches with the fun name of Doggy Parton.

So, just what is in the range, what has Dolly Parton said about her latest venture, and can you buy the range in the UK?

What is in the Doggy Parton range?

The new Doggy Parton website redirects customers to the American Amazon store which currently has more than 20 items available, including dresses and shirts for dogs and accessories including a pink cowboy hat.

There are several chewy Dolly-themed toys available, including a plush microphone, guitar and even a pink platform heel.

Parton collaborated with SportPet Designs on the pet items, which have all been created to emulate her own classic country look.

What has Dolly Parton said about her Doggy Parton range?

To celebrate the launch of her canine clothing line, Parton spoke about her love of pets.

She said: “My love for pets is stronger than ever. ‘This inspired me to start my own line of Doggy Parton apparel, accessories, toys and more with a little "Dolly" flair.”

She also posted an image to her official Instagram account to announce the line showing her with Billy the Kid, a French Bulldog owned by her manager Danny Nozell which she refers to as her ‘god-dog’.

She then posted a series of adorable videos featuring her and Billy the Kid.

Referencing her 1959 debut single, which was recorded when she was only 13, in one video she said: “Puppy Love was my very first record, and six decades later my love for pets is stronger than ever.”

Another video showed Parton pretending to blow dry Billy the Kid, who was wearing a blonde wig which made him appear as if he had a similar hairstyle to her.

A voice which was meant to be that of Billy the Kid said: I will always love you, Dolly Mama. Thank you for my @doggyparton wig and accessories.”

The short video was soundtracked with Parton’s I Will Always Love You, which was famously covered by the late Whitney Houston.

Is the Doggy Parton range available to buy in the UK?

At the time of writing, it does not appear that the Doggy Parton range is available to buy in the UK.

Pet lovers and Dolly Parton fans are hoping, however, that this may change in the future.

Who is Dolly Parton?

Dolly Parton, whose full name is Dolly Rebecca Parton is a 76-year-old American singer-songwriter, actress, philanthropist, and businesswoman.

She is most well known for being a country singer and songwriter and has sold more than 100 million records worldwide.

She has composed over 3,000 songs, including I Will Always Love You, Jolene, Coat of Many Colours, and 9 to 5.

She has gained numerous accolades including 11 Grammy Awards and 50 nominations, including the Lifetime Achievement Award, and ten Country Music Association Awards, including Entertainer of the Year.

She is one of only seven female artists to win the Country Music Association’s Entertainer of the Year Award; five Academy of Country Music Awards, also including Entertainer of the Year; four People’s Choice Awards; and three American Music Awards.

She is also in a select group to have received at least one nomination from the Academy Awards, Grammy Awards, Tony Awards, and Emmy Awards.

In 1999, Parton was also inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame. In 2022, she was also inducted in to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

As an actress, she has starred in films such as 9 to 5 (1980) and The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas (1982), for which she earned Golden Globe nominations for Best Actress, as well as Rhinestone (1984), Steel Magnolias (1989), Straight Talk (1992) and Joyful Noise (2012).
