Georgia Harrison has made history by changing the law in revenge porn. The former Love Island star was among the many campaigners calling for changes in the law.

The reality star was a victim of revenge porn after ex-boyfriend Stephen Bear shared a private video of them having sex on his Only Fans account.

Speaking of the changes today (June 27) Georgia reportedly said “The reforms to the law that has been passed today are going to go down in history as a turning point for generations to come and will bring peace of mind to so many victims who have reached out to me whilst also giving future victim’s the justice they deserve.”

“I’m so grateful to everyone who supported me throughout this campaign and it just goes to show how amazing our country is that the government have reacted so quickly to push through these amendments.”

Revenge porn is the distribution of sexually explicit images or videos of individuals without their consent. The material may have been made by a partner in an intimate relationship with the knowledge and consent of the subject at the time, or it may have been made without their knowledge.

It was made a criminal offence in 2015 but before now prosecutors had to prove that there was intention to cause distress or humiliation. That requirement has now been removed thanks to Georgia’s campaigning making it easier to convict offenders.
