John and Edward Grimes, who are best known as Jedward, sparked outrage on social media after posting an “insenstive” tweet about the Queen’s health.

The X-Factor stars, who have over 662,000 followers on Twitter, made the controversial comment after Buckingham Palace issued a statement informing the public that Her Majesty was under “medical supervision” at Balmoral.

Their first tweet read: “The Queen is dead?”

Liz Truss must have done something on that visit to the Queen!” Jedward tweeted, while referencing the monarch’s recent meeting with the new Prime Minister.

The 30-year-old twins have been criticised for their post, which came around the time that the nation was waiting for an update on her health condition.

One person commented: “As a "joke" it has three "qualities." 1. Poor timing. 2. Not funny. 3. Really really really obvious. In summary, a cr4p joke.”

“Not appropriate to joke about, is it?” another wrote.

Jedward have not deleted the tweet and have instead posted a follow-up tweet defending their post. “How is this insensitive? Liz Truss is transphobic that’s beyond insensitive,” Jedward argued.

Ms Truss previously stated in the campaign to become prime minister that she doesn’t believe that trans women are women, which angered members of the LGBT+ community.

Jedward added: “FYI we’re Irish the country that has been oppressed historically by the monarchy! Please study your History! We haven’t said anything but the facts!”

Twitter has taken no action so far against Jedward’s tweets with their latest post gaining over 30,000 likes and 2,000 retweets.
