The pair got engaged on Sunday (17 October), after Barker proposed at an upscale beachfront resort in Montecito, California.

On Instagram, Kardashian shared two photos of herself and Barker on the beach surrounded with roses and candles. In the caption she wrote “forever”.

Barker commented on the post, also writing “FOREVER” with an infinity symbol emoji.

Kardashian’s sister, Kim Kardashian West, also took to Twitter after the announcement was made, where she tweeted “KRAVIS FOREVER” with a video of the pair sharing a kiss. At the end of the video, a close up of Kardashian’s engagement ring is shown.

This will be Kardashian’s first time getting married, and it will mark Barker’s third.

Barker’s first marriage lasted nine months and was to Melissa Kennedy.

His second marriage was to actress and Miss USA 1995 winner Shanna Moakler. Barker and Moakler have two children together, son Landon Asher and daughter Alabama Luella.

How long have they been together - and how did they meet?

When Barker and Kardashian first announced their relationship, many online commented on how “random” a pairing they were - but what some might not realise is that they have been a part of each other’s lives for more than a decade.

Barker and Kardashian have been friends for years, after initially meeting in 2006 when he was dating Paris Hilton and Kim Kardashian was working as her assistant.

In 2017, Barker moved into the same gated community in Calabasas as Kardashian, and the two bonded over their children.

Barker even appeared in a number of episodes of Keeping up with the Kardashians.

In a confessional in his debut episode, Kardashian said: “Our neighbour and friend, Travis Barker, decided to come over because his kids and my kids are really good friends.”

Kardashian and Barker began dating in January of this year, with their relationship confirmed shortly after Valentine’s Day in February on social media.

It wasn’t long after that Barker got Kardashian’s name tattooed on his chest, calling her the “love of his life”.

Has Scott Disick responded to the news?

While Scott Disick hasn’t publicly responded to the news, a source reportedly told People that he “is not happy about the engagement”.

The source claimed: “Scott never approved of Kourtney dating Travis. He has struggled with their relationship.

“He always had this idea that he and Kourtney would eventually get back together. He was pretty shocked when he found out that she was dating Travis.”

From 2005 to 2015, Kardashian and Disick were involved in an on again off again relationship, which was documented across the course of the Keeping up with the Kardashians show and its various spin off programmes.

Kardashian and Disick never married, but they do share three children together - Mason (born 14 December 2009), Penelope (born 8 July 2012) and Reign (born 14 December 2014).

In the final episode of the season one finale of Keeping up with the Kardashians in 2011, Disick bought an engagement ring and had planned to propose during a dinner in New York City.

However, Disick ended up not proposing after he asked Kardashian for her opinion on marriage, and she replied: “If things are good now… why would you want to change that?”

During the Keeping up with the Kardashians reunion episode, Disick said: “I think if you really love somebody, right, you want them to be happy no matter what.

“So, I do give her a blessing to be happy.”

After splitting for good in 2015, the pair have managed to successfully co-parent their three children together.
