Why are Kylie Jenner and Kim Kardashian influenced by their partners when it comes to style?

When I read that Kylie Jenner chose to wear Haider Ackermann because he is reportedly a close friend and collaborator of her alleged new boyfriend, Timothée Chalamet, I did think, ‘oh here we go again.’
Let me clarify what I mean by that statement. If that is the case and Kylie was ‘influenced’ by Timothée Chalamet to wear the Haider Ackerman dress to the Met Gala, I simply despair….
Why?

Hide AdYes, I know some would argue there is nothing wrong with being ‘influenced’ by your partner when it comes to what you wear, but I firmly disagree!
Kylie Jenner became the world’s youngest self-made billionaire at the tender age of 21 and according to Forbes, has an estimated wealth of $600m. Why oh why does she need to listen to Timothée when it comes to her fashion and indeed anything?
Perhaps the reason for it might have something to do with her sisters, Kim Kardashian and Kourtney Kardashian, who are both ‘guilty’ of being influenced when it comes to their fashion by past and present partners.
Kim Kardashian was undoubtedly influenced when it came to her style choices by her ex Kanye West, and at times, I felt very ‘uncomfortable’ at how much power he seemingly had over her when it came to her fashion.

Reading this, I again felt ‘uncomfortable.’ Uncomfortable because why on earth did Kim need Kanye to teach her about fashion? And secondly, it is great that she now feels ‘empowered’ to experiment with fashion herself, but is this only because her relationship with Kanye is now over?
As for Kourtney, there is no question that since dating and now marrying Travis Barker, her style has also been influenced by him. Her look has become a lot more ‘edgy,’ think black, ‘skeleton’ jewellery and just "grungier" in general. In February this year, she even wore a t-shirt with Travis’s face on it, as well as other members of his band Blink-182.
Although Kylie Jenner and her sisters are hugely successful women in their own right, I believe they have a responsibility to show their fans that they don’t need a ‘man’ or in fact anyone to influence their wardrobe.
