Megan Fox and musician Machine Gun Kelly, whose real name is Colson Baker, have announced that they are engaged, after having been together since 2020.

The actress said the couple had “walked through hell together” as she shared the news online, with the rapper revealing that he had designed the engagement ring with both his and her birthstones to create “the obscure heart that is our love”.

When did they get engaged?

The two got engaged on Tuesday 11 January, with Fox announcing the news with a video on her Instagram account.

The video shows Kelly getting down on one knee with a ring.

In the caption, Fox wrote: “In July of 2020 we sat under this banyan tree.

“We asked for magic.

“We were oblivious to the pain we would face together in such a short, frenetic period of time.

Unaware of the work and sacrifices the relationship would require from us but intoxicated off of the love. And the karma.

“Somehow a year and a half later, having walked through hell together, and having laughed more than I ever imagined possible, he asked me to marry him.

“And just as in every lifetime before this one, and as in every lifetime that will follow it, I said yes.

“…and then we drank each other’s blood.

“1.11.2022.”

Kelly also shared the news on his Instagram as well, with a video of Fox showing off the engagement ring.

In his caption, the musician wrote: ““yes, in this life and every life” beneath the same branches we fell in love under, I brought her back to ask her to marry me.

“I know tradition is one ring, but I designed it with Stephen Webster to be two: the emerald (her birth stone) and the diamond (my birth stone) set on two magnetic bands of thorns that draw together as two halves of the same soul forming the obscure heart that is our love.

“1-11-2022.”

How did they meet - and how long have they been together?

The couple first met on the set of Midnight in the Switchgrass in March of 2020, when Fox was still married to her first husband Brian Austin Green, an actor known for his roles in The Conners, Anger Management, Wedding Band, Desperate Housewives, Smallville and Beverly Hills, 90210.

In an episode of his podcast With Brian Austin Green in May 2020, Green explained that he and Fox had been separated since 2019.

Green added that he didn’t “want people to think that her or he are villains or I was a victim in any way with any of this because I wasn’t”.

At the time, there had been reports that Fox and Kelly had been spending more time together due to work and filming schedules, and a few days after Green confirmed his breakup with Fox, she appeared in Kelly’s music video for his song Bloody Valentine.

Their relationship “officially” confirmed on 17 June after a source reportedly told US: “Megan and MGK have gotten more serious.

“[They’re] referring to one another as boyfriend and girlfriend.

“They’re enjoying spending more and more time together and have a strong connection.”

Later that same month, Fox referred to Kelly as her “twin flame” whilst talking to the astrologer Susan Miller on an episode of Give Them Lala… With Randall podcast, with Lala Kent and Randall Emmett.

She said: “The second that I was in a room with him… I knew right away that he was what I call a twin flame. Instead of a soul mate, a twin flame is actually where a soul has ascended into a high enough level that it can be split into two different bodies at the same time.

“So we’re actually two halves of the same soul, I think. I said that to him almost immediately because I felt it right away.”

From there, Kelly and Fox started appearing regularly on each others Instagram accounts, and in August 2020 Kelly said, in an episode of Thirst Tweets for BuzzFeed Celeb, that he’s “locked in already right now” after a fan asked him out on a date.

Do they have children?

While the couple don’t have any children together, they both have kids from their previous relationships.

Fox had three sons with Green - Noah Shannon Green, born in 2012, Bodhi Ransom Green, born 2014, and Journey River Green, born in 2016.

Kelly also has a daughter from a previous relationship with Emma Cannon, Casie Colson Baker, who was born in July 2009.
