Speculation has been growing in the last few months on what Prince George’s specific role would be at his grandfather, King Charles’s coronation on May 6. It has now been revealed that he has been chosen as the youngest Page of Honour.

Although it was reported that Prince William and Kate Middleton were concerned about their oldest son being the subject of too much public scrutiny, they were said to be very touched that the King was keen for Prince George to have a key role. “We’re all very excited about Prince George’s role in the Coronation, it will be an incredibly special moment,” said a spokesman for Kensington Palace.

When it comes to what Prince George’s role as a Page of Honour  will specifically involve, according to The Daily Telegraph, “The nine-year old will be tasked with carrying the King’s robes alongside three other Pages of Honour-schoolboys Lord Oliver Cholmondeley, 13, Nicholas Barclay, 13, and Ralph Tollemarche, 12.

Lord Oliver Cholmondeley is the son of David, the Marquess of Cholmondeley and Rose Cholmondeley, Marchioness of Cholmondeley.

In March of this year, King Charles 11 made the Marquess his Lord-in-Waiting. According to The Daily Mail, this is seen as a “prestigious position that will see him attend important state and royal occasions, as well as being called upon to represent His Majesty at various events”

Nicholas Barclay, 13, is the grandson of Sarah Troughton the Lord Lieutenant of Wiltshire, who is a good friend of Camilla’s. In July of last year, she appeared on Good Morning Britain ahead of ITV’s documentary, ‘Camilla’s Country Life’ and said the following: “I defy anybody not to be charmed by a smile from the Duchess.”

The new Queen’s Pages of Honour are her grandsons, Gus and Louis Lopes, 13, and Freddy Parker Bowles, 12. Gus and Louis are the sons of her daughter Laura Lopes and her husband, Harry Lopes. Freddy Parker Bowles is the son of Tom Barker Bowles and Sara Buys.

Her fourth Page of Honour is her great-nephew Arthur Elliot, 10. Arthur’s father is former Conservative Party chairman Ben Elliot, his parents are Queen Camilla’s sister, Annabel Elliot and the late Simon Elliot who recently passed away.
