It’s been reported that the media mogul was propelled over the handlebars of the bike and onto the road whilst travelling at 20mph, and not wearing a helmet.
The source said: “Simon is lucky to be alive.
“He was pedalling along, with his electric motor on, when the wheels suddenly went from under him after hitting a wet patch.
“He slipped and went flying over the handlebars into the middle of the road.

“Three passers-by jumped into action, and stopped traffic so he wouldn’t be run over.
“After being ambulanced to hospital and given an x-ray, Simon was eventually released that evening - his arm in a yellow cast all the way up to the shoulder - and told to rest.
“Despite this being his second great escape, Simon insists that he’s not ditching the bike - but he will start wearing a helmet.”

Hide AdCowell has not yet said anything publicly about the crash or his broken arm.
His most recent social media posts are from December, when he paid tribute to the late Carlos Marin, a Spanish singer and member of the group Il Divo, who passed away on 19 December 2021.
Marin was hospitalised after contracting Covid-19 and had reportedly been placed in a medically induced coma before he died at age 53.
Cowell tweeted and posted on Instagram: “I am finding this so difficult to put into words how I feel right now. I am devastated Carlos Marin has passed away. He loved life. He loved performing and always had so much appreciation towards the fans who supported the group from day 1. Rest in peace Carlos. I will miss you.”

In August of 2020, Cowell underwent a six hour surgery to have a metal rod placed in his back after the crash.
Talking about the accident afterwards, he tweeted: “Some good advice… If you buy an electric bike, read the manual before you ride it for the first time. I have broken part of my back. Thank you to everyone for your kind messages.
“And a massive thank you to all the nurses and doctors. Some of the nicest people I have ever met. Stay safe everyone. Simon.”
