As Sarah Ferguson promotes her new book in the States, is she set to appear at the Oscars?

It would appear that Sarah Ferguson is having a bit of a renaissance in recent months. Not only did she speak at the public memorial service for her late friend Priscilla Presley in January of this year,  but she is currently in the States to promote her new book, 'A Most Intriguing Lady'. 

Sarah Ferguson arrived at the 92nd Street Y on the Upper East Side of New York last night for an interview with Glamour editor Samantha Barry. For the event, she wore a studded white jacket, black skirt, and knee length black boots. 

Sarah posted about the event on the 28th February on her Instagram where she said: “As this will be my first appearance in the US in quite some time, I couldn’t be more excited to discuss my new book, 'A Most Intriguing Lady', which draws upon historical characters and biographical elements from my life and family lineage.”

As she continues to promote her book in the States, there are reports that Sarah Ferguson could be ‘set’ to present an award at the Oscars because of her close relationships with the Presleys.  A source told The Sun that “There have been discussions about The Duchess attending and it now looks as though that will happen — the plan is for her to present an award.``

Although International royals have attended the Oscars before, it would be considered quite a coup for Sarah Ferguson if she is chosen to present an award at this year’s Oscars. Meghan Markle and Prince Harry were rumoured to have been invited to last year’s awards ceremony, but the couple did not attend. 

International royals who have attended in the past include Princess Charlene of Monaco and her late mother-in-law, actress Grace Kelly who became Princess Grace of Monaco. When King Charles was Prince Charles, he hosted an event for British Academy Award winners at the palace.

In her sit down interview with Samantha Barry of Glamour magazine last night, she was asked what advice she would give Meghan Markle and Prince Harry. Sarah Ferguson said: “I think the best way to answer that is to really take hold and lead by example. I wouldn’t give advice. I would say that your actions speak louder than words.”

Sarah Ferguson also revealed in the chat that she has not ‘yet’ received an invitation to the King’’s coronation. 

If Sarah Ferguson does make an appearance at the Oscars, it would show the extent to not only which she has worked on her image in recent years. In December of last year, she was reportedly invited to join the royals’ Christmas gathering for the first time in 30 years. 

Sarah Ferguson is reported to have found an ally in Camilla, Queen Consort and spoke to People about her support for the King and her. “I’m very supportive of the King and the Queen Consort, and I really am glad to do whatever it takes to support them on their road ahead.”
