Stephen Colbert has kicked off a new trend on Twitter, asking fans to come up with new names for Donald Trump ahead of his 2024 presidential campaign.

The Late Show with Stephen Colbert always starts with a topical monologue giving the host space to show off his comedic chops. However, as a staunch proponent of the disgraced former president, he is now refusing to use his name and asked fans to come up with new names to use for him when he no doubt has to be included in the topical monologue on the show.

The Late Show official Twitter account reached out to fans asking them to come up with some new names for the former president: “What should we call the former president when there’s a story about him in our monologue? Tweet us with the hashtag #HeWhoShallBeNamed and your submission could make it on #Colbert!”

This has been an ongoing campaign on the show’s social media accounts for a number of days with thousands of fans across the globe getting involved. The account has also shared some of their own new names for Trump which include “Drinks with Two Hands”, “Commander in Cheese”, and “Baldemort”.

In a recent monologue, Colbert spoke about Trump’s widely criticised dinner with Kanye West and the known white supremacist Nick Fuentes, calling them both “creeps” and saying that “it’s his most upsetting meal since every other meal.”

The twice-impeached ex-president announced earlier this month that he would be making a second run for president despite shaky midterms and a surge from rival republican Ron DeSantis.

Trump spoke to a crowd in Mar-a-Lago at his waterfront estate in Florida, where his campaign will be headquartered.

He said: “In order to make America great and glorious again, I am tonight announcing my candidacy for president of the United States.” The announcement means Trump aims to become the second president elected to two nonconsecutive terms.
