Footballer Jesse Lingard had a designer watch stolen from him while he was playing in a Premier League match.

Scotland Yard has said officers were investigating a report of the burglary at the London Stadium, home of West Ham, on 9 May.

On that day, the Hammers took on Everton and suffered a 1-0 defeat, with England international Lingard playing the full 90 minutes.

The watch is thought to belong to the 28-year-old footballer, who was on loan from Manchester United.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: “Police are investigating a burglary at the London Stadium.

“It was reported that a watch was stolen from a changing room on the afternoon or evening of Sunday, 9 May.

“There has been no arrest and enquiries continue.”

Worth up to six figures

Langard has a collection of pricey designer watches, with some thought to be worth up to six figures.

A West Ham United spokesperson said: “The incident happened a month ago and the Club took all appropriate steps at the time.

"While we will continue to assist with the matter, we are unable to comment further as this is now part of an ongoing police investigation.”
