Time to end the compulsory BBC licencing fee - NationalWorld digital front page

NationalWorld is calling on the BBC to abandon it’s compulsory licence fee, as a survey conducted by JPI Media showed an overwhelming majority of respondents feel it should not be mandatory.

The UK’s newest national title has today (14 June) launched a campaign to end the tax, as the BBC has proven in recent months that it is not the honest, transparent, quality news and entertainment provider it claims to be.

The Martin Bashir scandal has irrevocably damaged the corporation’s reputation, and it was telling that BBC managers themselves were so reluctant to provide comment in the wake of Lord Dyson’s inquiry, even to their own programmes.

The myth of the BBC being an open, honest and objective provider of news has been damaged once again. It’s weak claim that it is also the sole provider for quality content is also laughable, as streaming services and other terrestrial broadcasters have proven time and time again.
