Who is flying with Jeff Bezos?
Jeff Bezos will be accompanied by his brother Mark Bezos. Mark is the head of communications at a charity, a volunteer firefighter, and one of the co-founders of private equity company High Capital.
82-year-old Wally Funk is also part of the crew. Ms Funk was one of the Mercury 13, who completed the same training programme as the early Nasa astronauts and almost went to space. She was personally invited by Bezos, meaning she didn’t have to pay for her ticket. She will become the oldest person in space after the flight is completed. The record is currently held by John Glenn.
Finally, student Oliver Daemen will be along for the ride. his seat opened up when the winner of the open auction said they were too busy to go on the flight. His financier father had been the second in line, and so the ticket was passed on to him, who passed it on to Oliver. Because he paid for the ticket, he is one of the first ever people to pay for a ticket to board a spacecraft.
