Angel Lynn: mum of kidnap victim breaks down over fears that her daughter will never ‘walk, talk or eat’ again

A teenager has been left with “no life” after she suffered life-changing injured as a result of being kidnapped by her ex-boyfriend.

Angel Lynn, 19, was bundled into a van by her ex, Chay Bowskill, and was found seriously injured in the carriageway of the A6 near Loughborough on 17 September, 2020.

Bowskill, 20, was found guilty of kidnap, coercive and controlling behaviour and perverting the court of justice during a trial at Leicester Crown Court last week, while his friend, Rocco Sansome was also found guilty of kidnap.

Angel’s mum has now spoken out about the horrifying injuries which her daughter suffered as a result of the kidnapping, saying that she has been left with “no life” and fears that she will never “walk, talk or eat” again.

Bowskill has ‘taken everything away’ from Angel and her family

Appearing on Good Morning Britain, Nikki Lynn spoke about her heartbreak over her daughter’s injuries.

Shocking CCTV footage showed Angel being bundled into the van by Bowskill, with the van being driven off at speed by Sansome.

Police confirmed that Angel escaped from the van while it was moving at around 60mph and was found in the middle of the road.

Nikki broke down while speaking about her daughter saying: “Angel has got no life now, ever. We don’t know if she’ll ever walk, talk, eat.

“She’s amazing, she’s beautiful, she’s good fun. She was just really happy before she met him. She had lots of friends.

“Now, he’s just taken everything away from us… I just can’t forgive him.”

The teenager now needs “round the clock care” in order to deal with her injures.

In a statement released after Bowskill’s sentencing, the family said: “Every day is not only a huge struggle for Angel but also a huge struggle for our family and friends.

“I know that Angel will never get married now and I will never get to walk my daughter down the aisle.

“Nikki and I will never be grandparents to Angel’s children.

“We don’t know what the future holds for our daughter but we try to put smiles on our faces each day but inside our hearts are bleeding out.”

Appeal for more severe sentencing

Nikki, who was wearing a top with Angel’s picture on the front during her appearance on the morning programme, also appealed for a longer sentence for Bowskill.

He was sentenced to a seven and a half year prison term after being convicted last week, while Sansome was also found guilty of kidnap after assisting to bundle Angel into the van.

Sansome was sentenced to 21 months in prison.

Nikki said: “We want justice for our daughter and enough money to bring her home where she belongs, with her family.

“I think [the sentence] should be looked at again and I think he [Bowskill] should be given a longer sentence.

“The judge said you are looking at a hefty sentence, I don’t think he got a hefty sentence at all.

The Attorney General confirmed on 28 January that a review into Bowskill’s sentence was underway to decide whether the seven and a half year sentence was “unduly lenient”.

A spokeswoman for the Attorney General’s office said: “We have received a request for this sentence to be considered under the Unduly Lenient Sentence (ULS) scheme.

“The Law Officers have 28 days from sentencing to consider the case and make a decision.”
