Bobbi-Anne McLeod: ‘no known link’ between teenager and man arrested on suspicion of murdering her

There is “no known link” between 18-year-old Bobbi-Anne McLeod who disappeared in Plymouth and the man suspected of her murder, police have said.

Devon and Cornwall Police said on Thursday investigators have been granted more time to question a 24-year-old man who was arrested on suspicion of murder on Tuesday.

A 26-year-old man who was detained at the same time as the first suspect was released earlier on Thursday with no further action to be taken against him.

It has now been confirmed that police believe that the 24-year-old man, who is currently still in custody, had “no known link” to Miss McLeod.

What did police say?

Speaking on Thursday Assistant Chief Constable Nikki Leaper said: “I can confirm that at this time there is no known link between the suspect and the victim, and I would like to reassure the public that at this time we are not seeking anyone else in relation to this matter.”

More time has been granted to the police to question the 24-year-old still in custody, who was arrested on Tuesday (23 November) afternoon.

She said: “This warrant enables police to extend the time in which a person can be detained within police custody whilst an investigation is ongoing”

What has happened so far?

Bobbi-Anne McLeod, 18, disappeared at about 6pm on Saturday after leaving her home in Leigham, Plymouth, to meet a friend in the town centre.

A body was found at Bovisand on Tuesday afternoon – around seven miles from where she was last seen.

Graham Roser, Bobbi-Anne’s former headteacher at Tor Bridge High secondary school, said: “Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of Bobbi-Anne who was a student here from 2014 until July 2019. Bobbi-Anne had many friends and is fondly remembered by staff and students alike.

“We are all shocked by the news and will make support available for members of the school community who are affected by this incredibly sad news.”

Friends and family of Miss McLeod organised a candlelit vigil on Thursday near the bus stop she was last seen at.
