Many schoolchildren will already be looking forward to their next break from the classroom.
The next break for kids will come by very shortly, with half-term break just around the corner, as the days begin to get lighter.
Not only do kids and parents have the half-term break to look forward to but it won’t be long until the Easter holidays are upon us.
So whether you’re planning to stay in the UK or jetting off for the first time in two years for half term - here’s everything you need to know about when schools will break up and for how long.
When is February half term 2022?
It is to run until 18 February, with classes returning to school on Monday 21 February.
Specific dates may differ between council areas, although most will follow this plan.
To check your local council holiday dates, you can visit the government website and enter your postcode.
Wales will follow the same holiday pattern as England with most councils following the pattern of Monday 14 February until Friday 18 February.
Likewise, to check your council area’s specific holiday dates, follow the link to the government’s website.
Both countries will see schoolkids break up during this period, with the next holiday coming in the shape of the easter holidays, which will take place around 9 April in both countries.
Scottish schoolchildren will break up around the same time in February, before being given a slightly earlier east holiday break.
Schools will break up for half-term around from between 14 and 16 February.
Easter will come earlier around 1 April.
Again though, dates will vary between council areas. To find out what the dates are in your ares, visit the Scottish Government’s website here.
Children in Northern Ireland will be given a half-term break, but it won’t last as long as the rest of the country.
Kids will only be given Friday 18 February as part of the half-term.
However, schools will be given extra days in Northern Ireland for St Patrick’s Day on 17 March.
For a full list of 2022 school holidays in Northern Ireland, you can visit the government website here.
Can I travel abroad for half term?
While it wouldn’t have been able to happen in the past few years, families have the possibility of jetting off for a break this spring.
Covid travel restrictions have been relaxed across many European countries for those who are wanting a change from a staycation.
Spain has just scrapped its ban on unvaccinated children over the age of 12, which will come into force on Monday 14 January.
This includes locations such as Tenerife and other Canary Islands.
All fully vaccinated travellers can now enter France, after the country put a ban on all travellers from the UK in winter.
While fully vaccinated travellers can jet into the country, restrictions will still remain for those who are unvaccinated.
Covid testing for travellers arriving back into England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland has also now been relaxed, but only for those who are fully vaccinated.
Fully vaccinated in all instances means that you have received your second dose of a Covid-19 vaccine at least 14 days ago, or if you have had one dose of the Janssen one shot jab.
