Last week saw Storm Babet wreak havoc across the UK, with towns washed out and residents forces to evacuate, but it's not quite the end of the bad weather yet.

The Met Office has issued brand new flood warnings in areas of the UK which have already been battered by extreme and - at times - dangerous conditions. "Heavy rain" is expected once again from early Tuesday until around Tuesday afternoon, with the Met Office stating that there is a "small chance" of additional flooding.

Some roads and towns may be cut off because of flooded roads, while homes and businesses may be at risk of flood damage. Rachel Ayers, Met Office meteorologist, said: “The weather we are seeing on Tuesday is no longer associated with Storm Babet. We will see some heavy rain in areas affected by flooding during Storm Babet though the worst impacted areas in Scotland will remain mostly dry on Tuesday.”

She added: “Within the warning area we could see some travel disruption due to spray and flooding on roads. There is a small chance of fast flowing or deep floodwater causing danger to life, or that some communities could be cut off due to flooded roads.”

It comes after the Environment Agency warned that danger from the aftermath of Storm Babet could last for days. There are still flood alerts in the Midlands, including Northampton, Peterborough and towards the south-east coast near Ipswich and Norwich. Flood warnings remain in place further north near Doncaster, Lincoln and Rotherham. There are also flood warnings still in place in towns near the River Severn in the West Midlands.
