Lady Gaga: Man sets cinema on fire during Joker: Folie a Deux to get singer's attention

A man has been arrested after he set a cinema on fire as a protest during a screening of the film 'Joker: Folie a Deux' to draw Lady Gaga's attention.

The incident took place at the Maua Plaza Shopping Centre, in the Metropolitan Region of Sao Paulo, in Brazil, on the evening of Tuesday, October 15.

Local media reports say that the man was watching the film with other moviegoers when he suddenly got up and set fire to his seat, causing the room to quickly fill with smoke and dozens of people to flee in panic.

The suspect, named as 32-year-old Tales Willians Miranda Barbosa, later told the police that he had decided to set fire to his seat to draw attention to the fact that Lady Gaga had not visited his country.

He reportedly told police that "next time he will set the entire room on fire, to get even more attention from the singer."

The cinema said that the seats had been coated with flame-retardant fabric and that the damage had been so little that they were able to continue to operate as normal. No one was injured in the incident.
