A survey of 2,000 people conducted by OnePoll on behalf of American summer camp Wild Packs indicates that 26% of Brits are willing to sacrifice friends or family to escape a horror villain and become the “Final Girl” if they were in their own scary movie.
This survey also revealed that nearly 2 in 5 (39%) Brits believe they could survive a horror movie. Gen Z is the most confident, with a whopping 70% of 18 to 24-year-olds believing they could last until the very end, earning the title: "Final Girls Generation."

In sharp contrast, only 15% of 65+ year olds admitted they would leave a loved one to save themselves.
Breaking the results down by gender, men are more "brutal", with 30% admitting they would sacrifice a loved one, compared to 23% of women. Likewise, nearly half of men (48%) say they could survive an entire horror movie, while only 31% of women feel the same - suggesting the UK is a nation of "Final Boys."
Nationwide, Northern Ireland is home to the most “Final Girls”; not only does a significant 48% of the region believe they survive an entire horror movie but 40% also stated they could leave a loved one behind to last until the end.
The UK is confident they can take on Jason Voorhees, with only 4% of Brits fearing a real-life encounter with the Friday the 13th killer. However, Freddie Krueger is the horror movie villain Brits would never want to meet in real life, with 21% of people scared of the Nightmare on Elm Street antagonist.

That kind of enthusiasm for spooky season, combined with Gen Z’s love for horror movies, inspired this survey.
We’ve labelled Gen Z as the “Final Girls Generation” due to their impressive confidence that they could survive an entire horror movie. They are determined to make it to the end and they admitted they would sacrifice a loved one to do so.
While it is a brutal decision - and some may consider it ‘selfish’- it demonstrates self-assurance and critical thinking in stressful situations that other generations may overlook.”
