Four-legged visitors are being given a rare chance to explore some of Blenheim Palace’s most famous gardens as part of a special autumn event.

DOG owners can forget leaving their four-legged friends at home this autumn — Blenheim Palace is throwing open more of its spectacular grounds to pooches.

From September 1 to October 4, the UNESCO World Heritage Site is welcoming canine companions into its Formal Gardens, Great Court and Walled Garden as part of Autumn Paws Outdoors.

And for dog lovers, there is a particularly exciting treat in store.

Pups will be allowed into Blenheim Palace’s iconic Formal Gardens — an area normally off-limits to dogs — giving visitors a rare opportunity to explore the historic gardens with their furry friends by their side.

Owners and their pooches can take a leisurely stroll through the beautifully maintained Formal Gardens, wander across the Great Court, enjoy the Water Terraces or soak up the autumn air in the Walled Garden.

The palace team has also made sure thirsty dogs are catered for, with water stations positioned throughout the Courtyards and Walled Garden area.

But there are a few rules for those planning to bring their hound along.

Dogs must be kept on short leads throughout their visit, while owners are asked to clean up after them using the general waste bins provided.

And leaving pets unattended in vehicles is strictly discouraged.

There are some areas where dogs will still have to sit this one out. Four-legged visitors won't be allowed inside the Palace or Adventure Play area, although assistance dogs are exempt.

Thankfully, owners won't have to sacrifice their coffee break either, as dogs are welcome in the Pantry Café.

The event also comes just in time for DogFest, which takes place at Blenheim Palace’s Parkland from October 3 to 4.

Visitors are being encouraged to show off their furry companions online using #DogsofBlenheim, with the palace team promising to reshare some of the best snaps.

So whether your pup is a seasoned explorer or simply loves a good autumn stroll, Blenheim Palace could be the perfect destination for a tail-wagging day out.
