The Dublin side, in collaboration with the Bob Marley family and Bravado (Universal Music Group’s leading global merchandise division), have crafted a new away shirt for 2022 to pay homage to ‘An Afternoon in the Park’, the famed Marley Dalymount concert.

Why have Bohemians F.C. payed homage to Bob Marley

‘An Afternoon in the Park’ took place in 1980, at the Irish team’s stadium, Dalymount Park. It was the reggae legend’s final outdoor gig.

The stunning design features red, yellow and green vertical stripes on the front, and features an image of Marley’s face. It also features similar detail on the rear neck and sleeve trims, and an embroidered hem tag of the original concert ticket on the lower front.

The 2022 Bob Marley away kit is available to pre-order now via the Bohemian F.C. website, for €70. Shirts will start shipping from February 21 2022.

The musical-themed kit also has a charitable aspect - 10% of sale profits will be used to purchase musical instruments and football equipment for people in asylum centres in Ireland.

A proud legacy of musical events

In addition to thrilling football matches, Dalymount has played host to many memorable musical events over the decades, from Bob Marley’s final outdoor gig, to recently deceased rocker Meatloaf, Faith No More, and the Red Hot Chilli Peppers.

Bohemians chief operating officer Daniel Lambert said: “It brings me enormous joy to unveil this jersey today following years of work on the idea. The Marley concert at Dalymount is one of Ireland’s truly special musical events, his only ever Irish show and, sadly, his last ever outdoor one.

“His love of football is widely known to all, and that he played on our famous pitch before the concert, the same turf that some of the world’s best players have graced such as Pele, Best and Zidane is amazing.”

The Ajax Third Kit 2021/2022

This is not the first time that a European football club who have paid tribute to the reggae icon as Dutch giants Ajax also released a Marley inspired kit last year.

That kit is primarily worn in the Eredivise side’s European fixtures and is described as a tribute to the Ajax fans’ collective love for the Jamaican’s music.

The kit was released in August 2021 and quickly proved a hit amongst Ajax supporters, as well as football fans in the UK.
