New reports have suggested that Prince Harry would be open to taking up a “temporary” supporting role in the Royal Family if asked by The King - but he would need an apology from Prince William to return full-time.

The Mirror reports that while the Duke of Sussex is focused on “making a success of his life” in California, the former Royal Family member would be open to returning to the fold. However, a full return to royal duties would hinge on an apology from his estranged brother, the Prince of Wales.

Harry is said to be open to “helping out” his father, King Charles, if he is ever asked to take up temporary royal duties to support the family in the wake of recent health battles. But bridges would need to be mended to make a full return to the UK amid a bitter feud between William and Harry.

It comes after it was reported that Prince William allegedly suggested that there would be “zero chance” of Harry being welcomed back with open arms following the publication of his controversial memoir, Spare. The book spilled secrets from behind palace doors, confirming feuds between the siblings and their wives and said that William and Charles would be willing to quit their roles if they could.

The royal siblings have reportedly not spoken for months, despite recently attending the funeral for their uncle, Lord Fellows, in Norfolk last month. The pair are said to have sat apart at the back of the church, with onlookers noticing that the brothers did not converse during their time there.

Harry’s offer of temporary support with royal duties is a bridge towards mending his relationship with his father, with the 39-year-old said to be keen to rebuild with the King following his cancer diagnosis. And while the Duke is said to have been in touch with former trusted adviser from his time as a senior royal, this contact is said to only be for “strategic and friendly advice” rather than support in returning to full-time royal duties.
