Australian Open prize money 2022: men’s, women’s, doubles’ winnings split and earnings per round - explained

The remaining competitors in the men’s and women’s singles at the 2022 Australian Open have already bagged themselves a sizeable cash prize for getting this far in the tournament.

The eventual winners and runners-up will bag upwards of one million Australian Dollars while there is also hundreds of thousands of dollars up for grabs in the doubles.

The purse is actually up from the 2021 event where the singles winners were Novak Djokovic in the men’s and Naomi Osaka in the women’s.

Meanwhile, the doubles’ prize-money has also seen an increase from last year.

The winner of the men’s singles at the 2022 Australian Open will take home an impressive prize of $2.875 million.

For the runner up, they will have a consolation of missing out on the Grand Slam win in the form of $1.575 million while the beaten semi-finalists will leave with $895,000 each.

The prize money in the women’s singles event is on par with the men, meaning the winner will also be taking home $2.875 million, the runner-up will get $1.575 million and the beaten semi-finalists will leave with $895,000 each.

The prize-money in the doubles events are considerably lower than in the singles but there is still a healthy prize purse to compete for.

The winners in the events will take home $675,000 while the runners-up receive $360,000 and the defeated semi-finalists get $205,000.

Like in the singles events, the prize money for the men’s and women’s doubles is on par.
