The England and Wales Cricket Board have just announced that England Women will host both South Africa and India this summer in two multi-format series.
This will be one of the busiest years for England’s Women who have just finished a crushing Ashes series and are now preparing for the ICC Women’s World Cup in New Zealand.

Hide AdCricket fans had high hopes for England Women following the disastrous catastrophes seen when the Men travelled to Australia in what turned out to be one of the most crippling Ashes series, resulting in the men’s coach, Chris Silverwood, Graham Thorpe, assistant Coach and Ashley Giles, the managing director of men’s cricket all losing their jobs.
However, the hope was short lived when Australia’s Women managed to defeat their opponents with 18 balls remaining in the first T20 and a similar sight of Australian dominance pervaded the air.
England Women will now look ahead to an exciting year of cricket which will start on 5 March 2022 when Heather Knight and her squad will once again face Meg Lanning in the first ODI match of the World Cup before returning to England and preparing for South Africa’s arrival.
South Africa will hit the English shores in June and will play a multi-format series consisting of a Test match, three ODIs and three IT20s.

Hide AdEngland Women will then prepare for the Commonwealth Games and The Hundred tournament which will return once again.
On 30 July, England will play Sri Lanka in a T20 as part of the Commonwealth Games group stage, before facing South Africa and New Zealand.
Straight after this, many of England’s players will join up with their The Hundred franchises to continue the tournament that stormed onto the stage last year, raising the profile of Women’s cricket incomprehensibly and placing the men and women on equal footing.
There will be little rest for Knight and her women as they will then play host once again to another of the World’s best teams as India travel for a Vitality IT20 series and a Royal London ODI series in September.

Following the announcement of the summer international schedule, the Managing Director of Women’s Cricket, Clare Conor said: “We’re absolutely thrilled to have scheduled two series against two of the best teams in the world, in what is destined to be another hugely exciting year for the women’s game.
“It’s fantastic that we’ve been able to include Lord’s and the Riverside Ground as venues for two of this year’s fixtures. They will be exciting events for the women’s game as we continue to try and take our game to as many fans as possible.
“With the second year of The Hundred and the unique opportunity of the Commonwealth Games on home soil, we’re really looking forward to what 2022 will bring for women’s cricket.”
