Fallon Sherrock has continued to rewrite history as she becomes the first woman to have reached the last 16 of the Grand Slam of Darts, with a nail biting win over German player Gabriel Clemens at the event which is taking place in Wolverhampton.

The 27-year-old was 3-1 down but came back fighting to claim four consecutive legs and then threw a 170 checkout to take the win.

Sherrock will now face the Austrian darts player Mensur Suljovic in the last 16.

Who is Fallon Sherrock?

Sherrock was born in Milton Keynes to parents who both used to play recreational darts. She has a twin sister, Felicia, who also plays darts and the two used to represent England Youth at the WDF Europe Cup Youth in 2011.

Sherrock has a son who was born in 2014 and has also experienced health problems over the years relating to her kidney.

She has played in the World Darts Federation events since 2012 but first shot to fame in 2019 when she became the first woman player to win a match, and subsequently two matches at the PDC World Championships.

The world number three first beat Ted Evetts 3-2 in the first round, then Mensur Suljovic 3-1 before eventually losing to Chris Dobey 2-4 in the third round.

Her success at this event, which was held at the Alexandra Palace, earned her the nickname the ‘Queen of the Palace’.

The career of Fallon Sherrock

At the age of 17, Sherrock first started playing darts at county youth level. She represented the England Youth team in the girls singles division at the 2011 WDF Europe Cup Youth tournament.

In 2012 she became the Girls World Masters winner as well as the Women’s Jersey Open winner before achieving success in the Women’s British Classic in the following year.

Sherrock first appeared at the BDO World Championship in January 2014 and made it to the quarter finals where she lost out to the reigning champion Anastasia Dobromyslova.

Fallon Sherrock reached the BDO Women’s World Championship final in 2015 and, despite losing 3-1 to Lisa Ashton, she hit an impressive six 180s in her first World Championship final.

In September 2021, Sherrock reached the final of the 2021 Nordic Darts masters. Having beaten Niels Heinsee, Gerwyn Price and world number five Dimitri Van den Bergh, she ultimately lost to Michael van Gerwen 11-7 in the final.

Sherrock is the only woman in PDC history to have reached the final of a TV tournament.

Just a week after this success, Sherrock competed in the Women’s Series events. She lost to Ashton in the top 16 stage of the first event but went on to win the next two events, beating Corrine Hammon and Deta Hedman.

On the second day, Sherrock lost to Ashton in the finals of both events but did not give up and ultimately whitewashed the 4-time world Champion in the final and sixth event.

Fallon Sherrock is one of the richest Darts players on the circuit and is estimated to be worth around £1.1million. Thanks to her recent successes since 2019, Sherrock’s worth has risen significantly, almost doubling in the past year alone. In 2018, Sherrock’s net worth was estimated to be around just over £400,000.

Sherrock has now become the first woman to reach the final 16 of a Grand Slam of Darts tournament after her incredible comeback to take a 5-3 victory over Germany’s Clemens.

After her win she said “I’m still coming down to earth from it, I genuinely don’t even know what I’ve done.

I feel really comfortable being up on the stage, especially playing all these really good players as it makes my game even better because they are pushing me every level I can.”

Sherrock has said that she is looking forward to facing Suljovic, who she beat in 2020: “I just can’t wait. I’m going to go out and play my own game and not think too much about it.”
