BT Sport are back hosting Champions League football this week, kicking off with Bayern Munich v Viktoria Plzen and Marseille v Sporting CP this evening.

BT are long-term rights holders of UEFA competition in the United Kingdom, recently signing a new deal until 2027.

At the start of July, BT agreed a deal until 2027 to show 533 of the 550 Champions League fixtures per season.

The deal covers the new Champions League format, which comes into place in 2024, while the finals of all European competitions will remain free to watch.

BT have paid £917million for the rights to show UEFA football from 2024 until 2027, extending their latest deal, which was set to run until 2024.

BT Sport’s coverage of the Champions League is hosted by Seema Jaswal.

Jaswal took over BT Sport’s Champions League coverage after Gary Lineker stepped aside in order to spend more time with family.

Jaswal has previously presented Premier League and FA Cup shows for BT Sport.

Speaking to the Express about getting the role last year, Jaswal said: “It was definitely one on the tick-list. I always loved watching it as a fan with my husband, my father and a takeaway, but little did I know that three would soon become two.

“We actually bought my dad a TV recently and I left a post-it note which read ‘Sorry I won’t be with you this season, but at least you’ll be able to watch me on the telly’. It was a lovely and very surreal moment.

“The team at BT Sport are amazing both on and off the camera and these are the moments you live for as a presenter. When that final whistle blows and it’s my time to capture the moment and put into words some of the biggest games in football, it doesn’t get better than that.”
