The office mini league battles, the getting one over on your brother in-law by telling him to triple-captain Coventry City flop Wesley Jobello, the last minute switch of striker that turns out to be a stroke of genius - it's all back, and it's set to be better than ever.
No longer is the popular online game the exclusive plaything of Premier League fans, with second-tier simulation Gaffr now in its second season, allowing followers of the Championship to build their own teams made up of the divisions top stars who will gain points from their real-life exploits on the field.
Here's our rundown of some of the best signings you could make for your side:

9. Aleksandar Mitrovic - Fulham - £11m
Mitro was made for the Championship, really, wasn't he? Sure, he can't hit a barn door in the top tier, but he's ruthlessly torn the second tier apart in the past, and well justifies his big-money price tag. Leave him out at your peril, folks. Photo: Catherine Ivill

10. Charlie Austin - QPR - £9M
Third favourite for the Golden Boot (well, second favourite once Adam Armstrong secures his exit) and rearing to go, Austin offers decent value at £8m. Photo: Jacques Feeney

11. Lys Mousset - Sheffield United - £8m
He failed to cut the mustard in the Premier League with the Blades, but he's had a strong pre-season, and could flourish in the second tier as he looks to reignite his stuttering career. Photo: TIM GOODE
