Forlan made a name for himself in England by moving to Manchester United in 2002, spending two seasons with the club. In that time, he scored 17 goals in 98 games, as well as bagging nine assists. Over those two seasons he also helped the Red Devils lift the Premier League and FA Cup in consecutive seasons.
But arguably his best years came in La Liga, playing for Atletico Madrid. There, Forlan scored 74 goals in 134 matches, helping the club to win the Europa League in 2010 while also being the league’s golden boot winner in 2008-09.
During the 2010 World Cup, Forlan was touted as being the only footballer who mastered the controversial ‘jabulani’ football - a ball crafted by Adidas that was made of eight spherical panels meant to improve its aerodynamics.
