The preliminary rounds are out of the way and the first round proper of the 2021/22 FA Cup is set to be drawn.

Teams from across the country can once again begin to dream of reaching Wembley, giant killings, matches in front of the TV cameras and all the magic that comes with the historic competition.

80 teams will face off in the competition’s first round and only 40 of those will make it through.

Here’s what you need to know ahead of the first round draw:

When the is the FA Cup 1st round draw?

The FA Cup first-round draw will take place on Sunday, October 17.

The draw is due to take place sometime between 1:00pm and 1:30pm (BST).

Is the FA Cup 1st round draw on TV?

The first round draw for the 2021/22 FA Cup is due to be shown live on ITV1.

Coverage of the draw is scheduled to start at 1.05pm (BST).

What teams are in the FA Cup 1st round draw?

Teams that were not members of either the Premier League or English Football League competed in the qualifying rounds to secure one of 32 available places in the First Round Proper.

The six-round qualifying competition began with the Extra Preliminary Round on 6 August 2021.

The 32 winners from the fourth qualifying round joined the clubs from EFL League One and League Two.

The 40 teams who progress from the first round will move onto the second round where they will be whittled down to just 20 teams.

The third round will see those 20 teams joined by the 20 Premier League teams and 24 EFL Championship teams.

Premier League side Leicester City are the defending champions, having beaten Chelsea in the previous year's final.

The 2021/22 FA Cup first round fixtures are scheduled to take place on Saturday, November 6.

The dates for all rounds of the 2021/22 FA Cup fixtures are:

  • First Round - Saturday 6 November 2021
  • Second Round - Saturday 4 December 2021
  • Third Round - Saturday 8 January 2022
  • Fourth Round - Saturday 5 February 2022
  • Fifth Round - Wednesday 2 March 2022
  • Quarter-Finals - Saturday 19 March 2022
  • Semi-Finals - Saturday 16 April 2022
  • Final - Saturday 14 May 2022

These dates are preliminary at the moment and many games will be subject to date and kick off time changes for television coverage.
