Premier League transfers: Manchester United pair including £25m man on the verge of leaving
The red side of Manchester is set for a hectic few days as the transfer window draws to a close, with two players rumoured to be on the move - one to a rival Premier League club.

Hide AdUnited suffered an early setback to their Premier League campaign with a last-minute defeat to Brighton on Saturday afternoon and now have only four days to finalise the squad that will carry them through to January. That could involve moves for one academy graduate and a winger whose time at the club has been rocky to say the least.
Scott McTominay has been linked with moves away for the past year and could be heading for the exit after spending 22 years at the club. He reportedly turned down a move to West Ham last summer and United rejected a bid for him from Fulham earlier this month, but a fee of around £25m has now reportedly been agreed with Serie A side Napoli.
McTominay has been a substitute for both of United’s games so far this season after making 32 appearances in 2023/24. The homegrown player has provided fans with plenty of stellar memories such as his long-range lob to secure a victory over Manchester City, braces against Brentford and Chelsea, and an opener against Liverpool in the 4-3 classic FA Cup quarterfinal in March.

Hide AdDespite his valuable contributions, the Scotsman’s role is mostly as an impact substitute and he could pick up more regular starts elsewhere - from the club’s perspective, his sale as an academy product would provide them with the financial room to step up their pursuit of target Manuel Ugarte from PSG.
Another player who could be on the move is Jadon Sancho, whose future at United has been in doubt since a row with Erik Ten Hag last season. The winger took to social media in September 2023 to say he had been made a “scapegoat” after Ten Hag said he had been left out of a matchday squad based on training performance.
Sancho’s refusal to apologise for his remarks led to a lengthy spell away. He rejoined former club Borussia Dortmund on loan in January 2024, with whom he returned to form and reached the Champions League final. After he returned to the UK, it was reported in July that Sancho and Ten Hag had buried the hatchet and the 24-year-old returned to preseason training with United - but he is still low in the pecking order and is understood to be for sale this week.

Hide AdRumours have emerged that Chelsea could make a move for him in a potential swap deal for Raheem Sterling, who is firmly out of favour with Enzo Maresca. A move abroad could also be on the cards - Juventus are interested in securing Sancho’s signature, with the Manchester Evening News reporting that a private plane is scheduled from Manchester to Turin.
The issue with any potential exit for Sancho will be his wages: Chelsea won’t be keen to add another high-ticket player to their books, and Juventus reportedly want United to agree to cover part of Sancho’s salary to facilitate a move.
