talkSPORT pundit and former Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur defender Jason Cundy had no hesitation in choosing Michail Antonio over Harry Kane on talkSPORT radio last night.
Kane has played five Premier League matches this season since announced a dramatic U-turn to stay with the club rather than force a move to Manchester City, however the England striker is yet to score or assist a goal.
Meanwhile, Antonio is in the form of his life for West Ham having scored five in five in the league so far.
Despite the reputation and previous goalscoring of Kane, Cundy hasn’t been convinced of the forward this season and would choose the Hammers star instead.
When asked who he would pick, Cundy said: “Oh god yeah, without question. That's not even up for debate right now.”
“I tell you what Chelsea are playing [today] against Juve. If [Romelu] Lukaku can't play and you gave me the choice of Kane and Antonio to put on that blue shirt I'm not going with Harry Kane I'm going with Antonio and for me that's every single time.”
Man City were reportedly prepared to bid £150 million for the Spurs striker over the summer and Kane was absent for the start of the Premier League campaign has he continued to be linked with a move away.
Kane bagged a brace on his return to the starting XI during Spurs’ 3-0 win over Pacos Ferreira in the Europa Conference League, however has struggled since as Nuno Espirato Santo’s side have rapidly slid down the table - most recently losing to Arsenal in the North London derby.
talkSPORT presenter Andy Goldstein went on to ask Cundy who he would play up top if the Euro 2020 final was postponed to today and the ex-defender still stuck by the West Ham striker.
“Form is temporary, class is permanent, right?” Cundy said.
“Right now, Harry Kane has not got any good form but I’m not saying he’s not class.”
Kane will be hoping he can improve his form in the coming weeks ahead of England’s World Cup Qualifiers next month.
