The games form part of the UK government's Events Research Programme designed to bring large crowds back to live events when lockdown restrictions ease.

It means Wembley can increase the crowd size to 75% of its overall capacity, which could see more than 60,000 people inside the ground for each of the semi finals and final.

Wembley has already seen an increase in capacity limits from the group stage, when it was allowed 22,500 fans in, to the last 16 when the limit was raised to around 45,000.

Fans with tickets to the games will have to provide either proof of full Covid vaccination, with the second dose received at least 14 days before the game, or a negative coronavirus test.

When is the Euro final?

There had been reports of moving the final due to increasing case numbers of the Delta variant of the virus but tournament organisers UEFA said there were no such plans to do so.

Culture Secretary Oliver Dowden said: "As we continue to make progress on our roadmap out of lockdown, keeping the public safe remains our top priority.

"We have worked extremely closely with Uefa and the Football Association to ensure rigorous and tight public health measures are in place whilst allowing more fans to see the action live.

"The finals promise to be an unforgettable moment in our national recovery from the pandemic."

Tickets to all Euros games are available from the UEFA website while the game will be televised in the UK on BBC and ITV.
