The 2021/22 PGA Tour continues this weekend with the Genesis Invitational bringing a close to the “West Coast Swing” of the annual competition.

The Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, Los Angeles, will host the event for the 58th time as the world’s be golfers continue to work there across the United States of America.

Native Californian Max Homa won the event in 2021 with a score of 12 under par beating countrymen Tony Finau in a play-off.

What is the Genesis Open?

The 2022 Genesis Open will serve as the 16th leg of the 2021/22 Professional Golfers’ Association tour.

The Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, California is the host venue of the event which was formerly known as the Los Angeles Open.

The Riviera Club has has been the permanent home of the event since 2017, but first held it in 1929, and the Hyundai Motor Group (through its Genesis Motors subsidiary) have been the title sponsor since 2017.

Last year at the event saw local Los Angelean Max Homa win the event while fellow American Bobba Watson has won the trophy more than anyone else in the modern era with three wins all of which came over a five year period (2014, 2016 and 2018).

Scotland’s Macdonald Smith and American Lloyd Mangrum are the two golfers who share the record for most wins with four each. Smith’s last win was in 1934 and Mungrum’s in 1956.

The 2022 Genesis Open will once again see the best golfers in the world descend on the the Riviera Country Club.

As the PGA Tour concludes its “west coast swing” the current leader in the race to win the FedEx Cup is Japan’s Hideki Matsuyama who has won two events on the 2021/22 tour so far (the Sony Open in Hawaii and the Zozo Championship in Japan).

Norway’s Viktor Hovland is the current highest ranking European on the tour, he is currently 13th after dropping down three places from tenth last week.

Northern Ireland’s Rory McIlroy, who win the CJ Cup in Nevada on this season’s tour back in October, is currently 23rd.

There is a $12,000,000 (USD) purse for the 2022 Genesis Open and the winner will receive a prize of $2,160,000.

How to watch the 2022 Genesis Open on UK TV - live stream details

The 2022 Genesis Open begins on Thursday, Feburary 17 and is due to conclude on Sunday, February 2.

In the UK, the event will be shown live on Sky Sports Golf with coverage starting each day from 2:30pm.

Non-Sky customers can also stream the event live via NowTV with multiple subscription and one day packages available.
