The Masters is right around the corner, as the very best golfers in the world prepare for the latest major event in the sporting calendar.

Prior to the battle for the Green Jacket there is one final stop on the PGA Tour, as the players descend on the TPC San Antonio’s Oaks Course for the 2022 Texas Open.

With just over $1.5 million of prize money going to the winner as well as 500 FedEX Cup points, it’s sure to be another hotly contested event.

When is the 2022 Valero Texas Open?

The 2022 Valero Texas Open will be played at TPC San Antonio on the Oaks Course from Thursday, March 31 to Sunday, April 3 2022.

The tournament dates back to 1922, meaning this year’s event will mark 100 years since it was first played.

Sky Sports will have coverage of all the action across their channels starting from 5pm (UK Time) on Thursday, March 31.

Who is taking part at the 2022 Valero Texas Open?

The very best golfers in the world will head to San Antonio to take part in the 2022 Valero Texas Open.

Jordan Spieth is the defending champion, having won the 2021 event with a final score of 18 under par.

Also returning is Charley Hoffman, last year’s runner-up, as well as 2019 champion Corey Conners.

Representing the UK at the event will be Northern Ireland’s Rory McIlroy, as well as Scottish pair Russell Knox and Robert MacIntyre among others.

Rory McIlroy is the pre-tournament favourite going into the 2022 Valero Texas Open and can be backed at 7/1.

Defending champion Jordan Spieth is next in the betting at 11/1, while reigning Masters champion Hideki Matsuyama is 14/1.

2019 winner Corey Conners is priced at 16/1 and is closely followed by Bryson Dechambeau at 20/1 and Abraham Ancer at 22/1.

When is The Masters?

The 2022 Valero Texas Open is the final PGA Tour event before The Masters takes place.

The Major will be held at the famous Augusta National Golf Club in Georgia from Thursday, April 7 till Sunday, April 10 2022.

The event, which sees golfers compete for the iconic Green Jacket, is the first Major championship of the calendar year with the PGA Championship following in May, the US Open in June and the Open Championship in July.

Jon Rahm is the current favourite to win the 2022 edition of the event.
