Grand National 2022 day 1 runners, riders, horses, racecard, schedule, odds and betting details

Aintree will once again play host to a weekend of jumps, bets and fierce racing as the Grand National returns.

It all begins today, Thursday 7 April 2022, and will conclude with the world famous Randox Grand National race on Saturday 9 April 2022. Those who are never usually fans of horse-racing often take this opportunity to join in on the fun and place their bets.

The event kicks off with the opening ceremony today and it will be a celebration of the heroes and heroines of the NHS Staff across the region.

The Soprano singer, Laura Wright, will open the festival along with the Merseyside NHS choir and is set to be an unmissable start to the entertainment.

The day is set to consist of four Grade 1 races as well as the Goff’s horse sale in the parade ring, which will include upcoming young talents and Grade 1 heroes.

With all this entertainment to come, here is all you need to know about who will be competing on the first day of the Grand National.

When is the Grand National opening day?

Today, Thursday 7 April 2022, will see the start of the Grand National. The first race is set to begin at around 1.45pm BST with the day concluded before 6pm BST.
