Three months after Milwaukee Bucks took the 2020/2021 NBA championship, the 2021/2022 season has got underway. The season started on Tuesday 19 October 2021 and will continue until June 2022.
The NBA is currently commemorating its 75th anniversary and will continue to celebrate the momentous occasion throughout the 2021/22 season.

A 75th anniversary diamond logo will be featured in promotions across all NBA properties during the season, including on all merchandise, digital and social media as well as being painted on the courts.
The NBA also announced that it would be releasing a list of the 75 greatest players in league history who would be chosen by a panel of media, current and former players, coaches, general managers and team executives.

What happened on the NBA’s opening night?

The first matches of the season saw the Brooklyn Nets take on current champions the Milwaukee Bucks as well as the Golden State Warriors play the Los Angeles Lakers.
The Bucks looked to continue their 2020/21 form as Giannis Antetokounmpo dominated the match to take his team to a comfortable and easy 127-104 victory over the nets.
Despite strong performances from Basketball legend LeBron James and fellow teammate Anthony Davis, the Lakers were unable to restrain the Golden State Warriors as the San Francisco based team took a 115-106 victory.

22 teams will play on the second night of the 2021/22 NBA season which takes place Wednesday 20 October 2021 Eastern time but Thursday 21 October 2021 BST.
