France faced off against Morocco last night (Wednesday 14 December) and made history by becoming the first team to get through to successive World Cup finals.
Not only did the senior team as a whole make an impact, but newcomer 24-year-old Randal Kolo Muani certainly wrote history as he became the third fastest substitute to score in the FIFA world championships.

Within 44 seconds, Frenchman Kolo had put the ball into the back of the net with an assist from fan favourite Kylian Mbappe to create their winning goal.
Kolo’s instant goal was the first of his career as he made his third appearance for his country in a senior team, and secured him as a future important player who can certainly make an impact.
In light of Kolo’s solo masterpiece, People World have taken a look at other football players who have made an impact when arriving on the pitch as a substitute.

England’s very own Marcus Rashford joins Kolo Muani as one of the fastest substitutions to score in a World Cup.
The Manchester United player entered the Three Lions opening match with a point to prove after not being selected to play for his country in the Nations League due to injury worries, and set out with his best foot forwards.
Marcus added to England’s 6-2 win over Iran by scoring in 49 seconds, and only using three steps to slot it behind the goalkeeper.
Richard Morales
The question on everyone’s minds - if Marcus and Randal are third and fourth fastest goal scorers as subs in FIFA World Cups, who is first?

Hide AdThat honour goes to Uruguayan player Richard Morales, who really made an impact 20 years ago in the 2002 World Cup.
Richard Morales was subbed on and within 16 seconds of being on the pitch, indeed a world stage, he had scored, cementing his name in the records.
Ebbe Sand
Sitting in second behind Richard Morales is Ebbe Sand - a former Denmark player who is now the football manager for Brøndby IF.
He was the top goal scorer for the Bundesliga league in 2001 and managed to add his name to a scoresheet in the 1998 World Cup in 26 seconds.

Nicklas Bendter
Another Danish football player to make an impact on a game is Nicklas Bendter, however his success is closer to home rather than at a World Cup.
This side of the pond in the English league, Nicklas Bendter currently holds the title for fastest goal by substitute scoring in just six seconds.
To compare, in six seconds you could watch three quarters of a rodeo bull-ride, become a competitive eating champion or set the world record for puzzle solving (the record for a Rubik's Cube is six seconds).
