The annual Met Gala offers a rare insight to see the worlds of sport, music, film and fashion come together, to raise funds for the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.

This year’s event honouring the late Karl Lagerfeld was no exception with the likes of Serena Williams and Roger Federer entering alongside Cara Delevingne, Doja Cat and Pedro Pascal.

One instance in particular has people talking, where the two worlds of Hollywood and Formula One collided, after Anne Hathaway approached Australian Red Bull driver and F1 heartthrob Daniel Ricciardo at his first Met Gala.

An Allure video circulating social media captured the moment that the Devil Wears Prada actress, who looked stunning in Versace, confessed that she is a ‘huge fan of F1’ while beaming at the Aussie who donned a Thom Browne suit for the occasion.

Following their viral interaction, other videos started to pick up views where Ricciardo is seen in the background when Anne is posing for the cameras, smiling fondly at the actress.

While searches for Anne Hathaway and Daniel Ricciardo gain popularity as quickly as an F1 car races around Monaco, this is not the first time the international motorsport has been represented at the Met.

7-time World Champion Lewis Hamilton has previously attended the event, having spent millions of dollars on a table in 2021 to provide a platform for upcoming black designers.

In light of F1 becoming a more prominent force in showbiz and Hollywood (let’s not forget the Taylor Swift and Fernando Alonso match-up too), which other A-List stars are fans of the sport?

Leonardo DiCaprio

Leonardo DiCaprio is hard to pin down, usually dividing his time between the States and Europe, however you can most likely catch him at the Formula One Monaco Grand Prix.

The Revenant star has visited the historical event on several occasions and has since launched his own Formula E team called ‘Venturi Racing’.

Cameron Diaz

In addition to having a need for speed, Cameron Diaz was intrigued to see what lies beneath the bonnet of an F1 car, having a peek in the Mercedes garage in Monaco, 2013.

The team may have found their lucky fan in Cameron as their diver Nico Rosberg went on to pick up a rare win for the team at the time, in the Principality.

George Lucas

George Lucas can feel the force…the G Force. The Star Wars and Indiana Jones creator boasts probably one of the most appearances of any celebrity at an F1 race having attended ones in Austria, America, Monaco, England and Italy.

As if that wasn’t enough, the now 78-year-old even managed to interview Lewis Hamilton, Sebastian Vettel and Felipe Massa on the podium in 2015.
