The men’s and women’s Ice Hockey is underway at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing and there have already been some thrilling encounter.

The men’s matches are moving quickly through the preliminary rounds while the women have already finished that stage and are getting set for the quarter-final fixtures later this week.

The United States of America and Canada are amongst the favourite for gold in both events but there’s plenty of competition from several European nations.

The countries competing in the men’s Ice Hockey event in Beijing include USA and Canada from North America, Japan and hosts China from Asia and a host of Eurpoean nations.

Team GB have not entered teams into either the men’s or women’s events in 2022.

2022 Winter Olympics women’s Ice Hockey results and schedule

The Ice Hockey events began with the preliminary group rounds on Thursday, February 3, with Czech Republic beating hosts China in the opening match.

The same day so Switzerland demolished 12-1 by Canada, Japan win 3-1 against Sweden and USA beat Finland 5-2.

China’s women got their first win the very next day as the beat Denmark 3-1 and the ROC handed Switzerland another defeat with a 5-2 scoreline.

Saturday saw Canada run riot again as they beat Finland 11-1 while Japan beat Denmark 6-2, Czech Republic beat Sweden 3-1 and USA beat ROC 5-0.

On Sunday there was a 2-1 win for China over Japan and an 8-0 win for USA over Switzerland.

Monday saw Canada beat ROC 6-1, Denmark beat Czech Republic 3-2, Sweden beat China 2-1 and Switzerland finally get a win as they beat Finland 3-2.

The final round of preliminary matches was on Tuesday as Canada beat USA 4-2, Japan beat Czech Republic 3-2, Sweden beat Denmark 3-1 and Finland beat ROC 5-0.

The women’s Quarter finals get underway on Friday and here are the fixtures and dates fro the remaining rounds:

Quarter finals

  • Friday, Feb 11 - USA v Czech Republic, Canada v Sweden
  • Saturday, Feb 12 - ROC v Switzerland, Finland v Japan

Semi finals

  • Monday, Feb 14

Bronze medal game

  • Wednesday, Feb 16

The men’s Ice Hockey event began on Wednesday, February 9, as ROC beat Switzerland 1-0 in the first preliminary round match.

Later in the day, Czech Republic are due to face Denmark.
