What happened in the last round at the PDC World Darts Championship?

The World Darts Championship quarter-finals took place on New Year’s Day and the first of the two afternoon sessions saw James Wade breeze through to the semis with a 5-0 victory over Mervyn King.

The Machine is yet to reach a World Championship final but after yesterday’s whitewashing of The King, Wade will be going into his clash with Michael Smith with some confidence.

Meanwhile, Smith shocked Gerwyn Price on Saturday as he defied the defending champion’s record-breaking nine-dart finish to win an incredible quarter-final.

Bully Boy averaged over 100 for the second time in his four matches so far with an impressive mark of 101.94 compared to Price’s 99.57.

Peter Wright overcame a difficult test against 23-year-old Callan Rydz in their quarter-final, with the youngster becoming one of the stars of this year’s tournament.

The Geordie produced an exceptional performance and was within touching distance of the semi-final, but Wright was able to find the win in the deciding set and progressed.

Meanwhile, Gary Anderson denied Luke Humphries his first World Championship semi-final appearance as he beat the 26-year-old 5-2.

While the scoreline suggests a dominant victory for the Scot, Anderson won 16 legs to Humphries’ 15, with the Brit hitting more 180s and checking out at a higher percentage - however Anderson won the deciding leg in all four sets that required one.
