The Prince of Wales, who is president of the Football Association, shared a video message on the Prince and Princess of Wales social media account where he said: “Lionesses want to send you a huge good luck for tomorrow. We’re sorry we can’t be there in person. But we’re so proud of everything you’ve achieved and the millions you’ve inspired here and around the world. So go out tomorrow and really enjoy yourselves.” Princess Charlotte then said: “Good luck lionesses.”

Both Prince William and Rishi Sunak have both come under criticism for not attending the FIFA Women’s World Cup final. Piers Morgan said on X that “With respect, YRH, you should have got on a plane. Ridiculous that the Queen of Spain is attending the World Cup final to support her nation’s team, and you won’t be there despite being President of the FA.

Queen Letizia of Spain will be attending the FIFA Women’s World Cup final on Sunday 20 August 2023 with her daughter Infanta Sofia, who is 16 years old. According to Tatler magazine, Queen Lettizia’s husband “King Felipe V1 (who was spotted in the Royal Box for the Wimbledon men’s final earlier this summer) will miss out due to conflicting duties. Their eldest daughter Princess Leonor, the future Queen of Spain, started her three years of military training earlier this week.”

Queen Letizia of Spain was undoubtedly one of the chicest guests at King Charles’s coronation earlier this year, which she attended with her husband King Felipe, and wore a Carolina Herrera pink outfit with peplum detailing.  For the Buckingham Palace reception the night before, she looked equally as stylish in a Victoria Beckham green midi dress.

Queen Letizia, who has been called ‘Spain’s answer to Kate’ (Catherine, Princess of Wales), married King Felipe on the 22 May 2004 at the Catedral de Santa María la Real de la Almudena in Madrid. Her wedding dress was by Spanish couturier Manuel Pertegaz.
