The 2022 Six Nations Championship returns this weekend after the second and last of two bye-weeks and the middle fixture of the three sees Italy host Scotland.

The hosts are still on the hunt for their first victory in the tournament since 2015, which came against Scotland at Murrayfield, while Gregor Townsend’s side want to get back to winning ways after defeats to Wales and France.

Both sides are officially out of contention for the title and Italy must win if they are to have any hope of avoiding the dreaded Wooden Spoon.

Italy v Scotland is the second of the Round Four matches and will kick off Saturday’s action on March 12 at 14:15 UK time.

The Stadio Olimpico in Rome, which hosts all of Italy’s home rugby internationals, will be the venue for the fixture.

Scotland secured a dominant 52-10 victory over Italy at Murrayfield in last year’s Six Nations, while the last meeting in Rome, back in 2020, also went the way of the Scots as they won 17-0.

Both teams have already been named ahead of the match.

Scotland make five changes to the team that lost to France including the return of Matt Fagerson, who has recovered from injury, and Glasgow Warriors’ Kyle Steyn replaces the suspended Duhan van der Merwe on the wing.

Meanwhile, Italy are unchanged from the side that lost 57-6 to Ireland and had to play an hour of the match with 13 men.

Scotland are heavy favourites to win the match and start at 1/16 while Italy are 9/1 and the unlikely event of a draw can be backed at 40/1.

There is also the option to back Scotland to win with a -21 point handicap at 10/11.

Scotland to win by a 1 to 12 point margin is 11/4, while it’s 1/3 for them to win by 13 points or more.
