Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma - cricket's power couple as India take on Australia in World Test Championship

You have Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively as one of Hollywood’s power couples, Beyoncé and Jay-Z in the music industry and now Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma among the most famous celebrity couples in Indian sport.

As the World Test Championships are well underway with Australia currently leading India on day three of six, all eyes are on former captain Virat Kohli who has also been making headlines as he is reportedly in talks for a different kind of ‘test’.

Aside from a cricket test, British adventurer Bear Grylls is allegedly in talks with the 48-year-old to see how he holds up under a survival test alongside Priyanka Chopra.

Anushka Sharma is an actress and movie producer who has gained prominence in the Bollywood industry and is now ranked among the top paid actresses in Hindi Cinema.

Before Anushka made her Bollywood debut, she began her career as a model for Wendell Rodricks and gained a degree from Bangalore University.

Virat first met his now-wife Anushka at an advertisement shoot for a shampoo company in 2013 and explained in a podcast for his former team Royal Challengers Bangalore that he was so ‘nervous’ to meet the Bollywood star.

He said: “I remember this was 2013, I was just named captain for the Zimbabwe tour. My manager came to me and told me that I was going to shoot with Anushka Sharma. As soon as I heard this, I was so nervous. Like how the hell am I gonna do this. I was really nervous.”

The Indian cricketing legend added that he broke the ice by making a funny joke about Anushka’s shoes but was able to get to know the actress on a better level after several meetups.

The pair started dating and eventually tied the knot in 2017 in a private but extravagant ceremony in Florence, Italy.

Four years later, the couple, who have a collected net worth of 1310 crore, welcomed a baby girl on 11 January 2021 called Vamika.
