He started Manchester Utd’s 2-0 home defeat to Manchester City on the bench and was then unable to train on Thursday and Friday because of his illness.

The 23-year-old is also yet to complete a full 90 minutes since returning from injury.

He is currently being monitored by club medical staff.

Chelsea striker and midfielder Mason Mount is also yet to confirm whether he will be playing in Friday’s fixture due to dental surgery.

England have played Albania five times since 1989 and have won each time. Their greatest win came in April 1989 when they beat the Albanians 5-0. Each match has come in a FIFA World Cup qualifying fixture.

England and Albania’s first leg match in March 2021 resulted in a 0-2 win for England and with the home advantage this time around, it is highly likely a similar result will be seen.

England to win: 2/17

Draw: 15/2
