Hundreds of flights were cancelled at major UK airports due to a failure of air traffic control systems.
The issue began on Monday August 28 at the headquarters of the National Air Traffic Services (NATS) when its flight planning system failed. The outage has now been resolved but thad a knock-on impact for several days.

Hide AdFlights now seem to be retuning to normal with few cancellations on the morning of Thursday, August 31, following days of severe disruption which left hundreds of passengers stranded.
The Transport Secretary, Mark Harper, told GB News the incident “was a technical fault” and “we do not think this was a cybersecurity incident.” He added that there “will be an independent review.”
