Seattle police officers save injured man from path of oncoming train with a second to spare
Footage showed patrol officers from the Seattle Police Department, Washington State, USA, trying to talk a man, 57, facing a mental health crisis, back to safety at 9.16pm on October 7.
The man, whose identity is not disclosed, can be seen sitting on a ledge high above the train tracks near the 2nd Avenue Exit and East Jackson Street. One officer can be heard saying: "I want to help you, and I need you to hear me when I say that."

Hide AdJust seconds later, however, the man slipped and fell nearly 25 feet onto the tracks below and was unable to move after suffering serious injuries.
Officers on the lower platform sprinted across the tracks to save him as a speeding train rapidly approached. One cop can then be seen risking his own life to drag the man to safety, mere seconds before the train rushes by.
Seattle Police Department said in a statement obtained by Newsflash: "The 57-year-old male sustained multiple fractures. He was treated by the Seattle Fire Department and transported to Harborview Medical Center in critical condition. Due to the rescue efforts by first responders, the man survived."
