Is Katherine Ryan pregnant? When the comedian’s baby is due - and who is her partner Bobby Koostra

Comedian Katherine Ryan has revealed that she is pregnant with her and her partner Bobby Kootstra’s first baby together, and Ryan’s second child.

She confirmed that she is pregnant on Thursday night, unveiling her baby bump while filming a live episode of her podcast Telling Everybody Everything in Kentish Town in London.

When is her due date?

During the taping of the podcast, Ryan did not reveal her due date, specifically telling the cheering crowd that her main piece of pregnancy advice is to never reveal that piece of information.

Ryan went on to praise Meghan Markle for doing the same thing, keeping her due date vague when, during her and Prince Harry’s interview with Oprah, she said that her baby would arrive in the “summertime”.

Ryan went on to explain that the reason she keeps that bit of information to herself is to stop people from asking too many questions, and from comparing her baby bump to other expectant parents.

Her daughter from a previous relationship, 11 year old Violet, joined her mum on stage that evening and told the crowd that she was “very excited” to become a big sister.

Ryan had previously kept the pregnancy quiet, avoiding posting any full body photos and wearing loose clothing, but following her announcement on Thursday, her partner Bobby Kootstra shared an image of Ryan and her baby bump on Instagram, with the caption: “Bringing New Life :)”.

Who is Bobby Kootstra and how long have they been together?

Kootstra is Ryan’s partner, and is also a Canada native, the same as the comedian.

The pair had actually dated when they were in highschool, in Canada, but had gone their separate ways and hadn’t been in contact for 20 years.

However, they were reunited in 2018 when Ryan was filming Who Do You Think You Are? in their hometown.

Speaking to Radio Times, Ryan said: “I was cool with being single and I was really looking forward to becoming an elderly eccentric lady with even more dogs.

“I accidentally bumped into Bobby in Canada filming and it was meant to be a one night stand. But he was so sweet that I didn’t have a reason not to stay with him.”

In 2019, the two entered into a civil partnership in a ceremony in Denmark. In 2019, speaking on the Jonathan Ross Show, Ryan said: “It was a lovely day.

“It’s perfect having a civil partner. We didn’t have a wedding, I didn’t need to put on a white dress and pretend to be a virgin, that ship has sailed.”

Speaking to The Sun in 2020, Ryan said that she had wound up living her “worst nightmare” by marrying her high school sweetheart.

She said: “Magically, my high school boyfriend walked into my life and I did everything possible not to marry him.

“I really was against partnership at that point. I was looking forward to ageing alone with many dogs. And then I just loved him too much.

“It’s funny that fate has a way of finding you and what’s meant for you won’t pass you.”

Currently, Ryan, Kootstra and Violet live in Hertfordshire, in England.
